WellSpring™ Filtration Systems
Clearly the best!

Spa filtration is often misunderstood. Many companies have different ways of filtering spa water and often promote their method as being the best. Villeroy & Boch’s system is very efficient and focuses on what’s most important: the number of times the entire body of water passes through the filter (turn-over rate). This provides high turnover rates due to the large pump size and eliminates one
piece of equipment.

Turnover Rate:
The time it takes for the entire volume of the spa’s water to flow through the filter is referred to as the turnover rate. This can be calculated by dividing the volume of water in the spa by the gallons per minute (GPM) capacity of the pump. In the portable spa industry, a turnover rate of
ten or more times per day is considered to be acceptable. The Wellspring Filtration System far surpasses what is acceptable by industry standards.

Filter Size:
Depending on the spa size, each Villeroy & Boch spa comes with either 50 or 100 square feet of filtration (One-pump models=50SF. Two-pump models=100SF). Although most spa brands have good filtration systems, competitors use filtration as a sales tool to make their spas appear to be better. What is important, is not that the filter is larger, but that it is large enough. There is a point in size where a larger filter doesn’t purify the spa water any better than a smaller filter. Villeroy & Boch Spas’ filtration design is built for maximum efficiency for each specific model.

100% Filtration:
Each Villeroy & Boch Spa is equipped with a bypass valve which allows for 100% filtration during all filtration cycles.

Competitors’ spas that claim 100% filtration without a bypass valve will not perform at their full potential while running on high speed. The result is reduced water flow to the jets. This reduced flow of water is caused by restrictions on water flow through the filter. If all the water is required to pass through the filter while the jets are running, then optimal jet performance is never achieved. In fact, not only is the jet performance reduced when the filter element is brand new, but the performance gets worse as the filter becomes plugged with oils, debris, etc.

Depending upon the model, Villeroy & Boch Spas can be programmed to filter their entire volume of water between 127 and 263 times each day based on 12 hours of filtration per day. The average Villeroy & Boch Spa can filter its entire volume of water 195 times per day (some
Villeroy & Boch models reach as high as 263 times).

Villeroy & Boch’s Jet Pumps are industrial-grade and outperform standard 24-hour circulation pumps. All Villeroy & Boch jet pumps are dual-speed, which provide two intensities of therapy – most other spas with 24-circulation pumps utilize only single-speed jet pumps.

Don’t get confused by manufacturers that offer cost of operation guarantees. The cost of electricity varies in different regions as does the average daily termperature. When comparing the filtration systems of different brands the following items need to be constant in order to truly compare the energy costs of different spa brands:

Features Benefits
100% Filtration 100% water filtration.
Wide-Mouth Skim Filter Proven to remove more surface oils and debris. Engineered to handle the demand of portable spas.
High Turnover-Rate Allows more water to be filtered in less time guaranteeing clean clear water.
JetPod Water Circulation Jet Each JetPak equipped with a special circulation jet assuring that the water behind the JetPaks is circulated, clean, and clear.
Energy Efficiency Extremely high turn over rates, operate the filtration cycles of the spa using the most efficient amount of energy, keeping operating costs down.
